Funny what happens when you try something different. For Kenny, who thought maybe a single at Gillette Stadium would be plenty, he’s ended up switching gears – and going into overdrive for his Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour! Having surpassed a million fans at the home of the New England Patriots in 2018, Kenny’s love affair with Boston and the Northeast continues at a rapacious pace.
“I never want to be the guy who’s overstayed his welcome,” Kenny says of his conservative tour close. “But the first night went so fast, we put up a second – and then all of a sudden, Louis Messina came to my manager and I and said, ‘I really think there’s a third.’ It felt crazy, but that’s been such a part of this since we began really playing stadiums. There’s nothing that holds me through those off months like the crazy, passionate fans who come when we close down our tours in New England, so I thought: ‘Why not?’”
Why not, indeed? With a limited number of mostly single tickets on Friday, August 23 and Saturday, August 24, the decision was made – and Sunday, August 25 was put on the schedule. For the first time, fans can spend an extended weekend in No Shoes Nation, enjoying the music, the energy and each other!
“I have always been about trying to listen and get the feel for where No Shoes Nation is,” Kenny explains. “I’ve always felt like who we are as a band is as much a reflection of who the people are who make up No Shoes Nation, a place that exists without any lines on a map, but more a state of soul and heart... When we take that stage, we know how much passion is gonna come flying at us, and it’s everything we’re about giving back and then some.”
With “Take Her Home” landing on 133 reporting country stations in its first week, Kenny’s new music is also tapping a nerve among his fans – often described as the most loyal alongside the Deadheads and Parrotheads. The song about the nerves that come with taking the risks that make real people’s lives sweeter, it embodies the people who’re living life in a way that leans in, hangs on and loves every single moment.
So much so that for the first time ever, the man the Los Angeles Times calls “The People’s Superstar” and Wall Street Journal crowned “The King of the Road” is answering unprecedented demand for a third show in Foxborough, Mass. As he says, “More nights, more music, more fun, more surprises...Why not have a little more everything before heading into the fall once more?”
Presented by Blue Chair Bay® Rum, Sun Goes Down 2024 returns the high-velocity musician to touring full-tilt and ready to do what he does best: stadiums. With New England being a stronghold, these shows show the love affair between Chesney and the Northeast continues.
“The world’s turning into a crazy place! I love we can all come together to close out the Sun Goes Down Tour,  remembering what matters: friends, fun, music and seizing life at its best!”
